Changing Your Brake Pads
Now that’s emphasized, lets get to work.
The things that you will need with this chore are wrenches (depending on the class of your car, it might be Allen, open end, lug, etc.), hammer, cord, and a c-clamp.
Take off the wheel first. It would be easier to unscrew the bolts while its still on the ground. Then use the jack to lift it up provided with some support. Remember that the wheel will only pop out once you have lifted the car a few inches above the ground and when all bolts and nuts are out of the way.
Next thing that you should do is to unbolt your cars caliper. The moment you remove it, you would instantly see the brake calipers just above the bolts. Remove the bolts located at the back of the caliper and set them in a place where you can easily locate them once switching is done. Waggle the caliper while holding it to break it loose then pull it gently upward for it to loosen just a bit. Let your caliper hang on the cord and not on the brake line.
Take a good picture of how everything looks like when it is installed before removing the old pads. If your pads don’t loosen that easily, you could use your hammer and tap it a bit then try pulling it again. The moment it breaks free, you can put on its replacement by sliding them in their proper place. You have to make sure that all clips are set in their places, not forgetting a thing because if you did forget something, you have to pull out the entire set again.
You can now compress the piston of the brake by taking the c-clamp and using it to tighten the screw of the piston until it has moved as far enough as possible to let the caliper plop. Slide the caliper through the new pads. Attach the bolts in their respective holders. To test this, press on the brake pedal for a couple of times to ensure how solid your brakes are. That’s it, just put back your wheels and you’re all done.
What you do once you spotted the bulb holder is unplug the wirings attached to it. This plug is held by a clip made of metal, cap, or a plastic catch. If you have a metal clip, just pull it away. If you have a cap, use a screw driver to unscrew it. Last, if you have encountered a plastic catch, press the lever.
You can now remove the headlight out from its base by means of pulling it gently or rotating it. If you have greased your hands, clean yourself up first. Then use a piece of cloth to put the new bulb into the holder and tighten it. After making sure that the bulbs in its correct place, test your new lights by starting your car.
